Artificial intelligence assistant for occupational medicine

A platform supporting the care encounter and the medico-legal assessment, with strict documentary traceability and a six-criterion causal attribution framework.

January 2026 – present Clinical processes and governed AI Data science

What we did

An artificial intelligence platform focused on supporting the care encounter and the medico-legal assessment for occupational medicine, developed for a mutual insurer collaborating with the Spanish social security system.

The solution integrates a retrieval-augmented generation architecture with strict documentary traceability, designed to organise and index heterogeneous medical documentation and generate grounded answers with direct citations to the sources.

The analytical core structures the medico-legal assessment with a six-criterion counterfactual causal attribution framework: aetiological, topographical, chronological, quantitative, symptomatic continuity and exclusion of an external cause or pre-existing condition.

It covers three use cases: the assessment of sequelae and the evaluation of causation; injury biomechanics, contrasting the described accident mechanism with the objectified injury through primary literature and biomechanical models; and the medical consultation, supporting diagnostic orientation, up-to-date treatment and the reasoned estimation of temporary incapacity periods. It is an engagement in Clinical processes and governed AI on a foundation of data science.
